No, the New York Times did not “kill your patient.”
“Overselling” mammography?
No, redefining cancer doesn’t mean death panels
ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) before on multiple occasions
– malignant-appearing ductal cells are observed in the milk ducts of the breast but have not yet invaded through the membrane surrounding the duct
– a lot of DCIS, possibly even most DCIS, never progresses to invasive cancer or progresses so slowly that the women who have it die of something else
– same sort of behavior occurs with a lot of early stage prostate cancer in men
– before the advent of widespread mammographic screening, DCIS was a relatively uncommon diagnosis
– recent study found that DCIS incidence rose from 1.87 per 100,000 in the mid-1970s to 32.5 in 2004.
– more than 16-fold increase over 30 years, and it’s pretty much all due to the introduction of mammographic screening of asymptomatic women
– detecting and treating these cancers aggressively has not resulted in a proportionate decrease in metastatic and locally advanced cancer
– screening takes a lot of effort for, on an absolute basis, not as many lives saved as most people, even doctors, believe

– bowel cancer in which the number one tumour repressor p53 was mutated, presumably the reason for the tumour,
– hypoxia or oxygen starvation was the cause of the bowel cancer, not the mutations in the p53 tumour repressor. I suggested that the mutations in the p53 were a RESULT of the hypoxia
– Stress>adrenalin>PGF2>vasoconstriction>HYPOXIA>p53 mutation>CANCER
– p53 : when mutated at certain loci on the gene the protein derived was a tumor inducer with as many roles as an inducer as it has as a repressor (around 8 or 9 all up)
– completely unlike other repressors such as BRAC 1 and 2 or RB (retinoblastoma) which are only permissive of tumorogenesis when mutated
– in lung cancers a pyrobenzene found in cigarette smoke induced a mutation (from memory) always in base 187

Description générale :

http://www.nds.rub.de/media/nds/veroeffentlichungen/2011/10/22/HowToBreakXMLenc.pdf

http://preparator.wordpress.com/2009/05/18/hello-world/

Eux restent prudents : Because probing by network notaries does not protect against all possible network attacks, we expect that highly sensitive services like bank or large e-commerce websites will continue to use heavyweight PKI mechanisms

Un discours assez percutant :
http://e360.yale.edu/feature/britains_mark_lynas_riles_his_green_movement_allies/2449/
[…] nuclear power worldwide of 430 reactors reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 2 billion tons per year. And that really is the beginning and the end of the argument if you’re in the slightest bit concerned about global warming […]
[…] I actually refer to that article in my new book as being a real turning point. […] was something I’d dashed off in 20 minutes without doing any research. […] online comments from readers, just pointing out that I didn’t know what the hell I was talking about […]

http://www.chromium.org/nativeclient/getting-started/getting-started-background-and-basics#TOC-Native-Client-NaCl-

Mais Mozilla a décidé de le rejeter :
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/06/25/mozilla_on_npapi_pepper/
https://wiki.mozilla.org/NPAPI#Past_NPAPI_Specification_Proposals

http://www.nature.com/news/2011/110930/full/news.2011.565.html
I completely agree with Salomaa that it would be nearly impossible to establish dosages well enough that a study focusing on low doses would be useful.

Much better are: (a) the population studies in high-background areas such as those done in Kerala, India; Ramsar, Iran; and Guaripari, Brazil, or (b) statistically powerful studies conducted using publicly available data such as radon levels. Specifically, the study by Bernard L. Cohen from 1995 in Health Physics correlated lung cancer risk with radon levels for 1600 counties across the USA.

Aberfan : Coal mine’s slag heap shifted and then engulfed a school killing 116 children and 28 adults in a moment. And how many « experimental » mines of centuries lone gone have suddenly collapsed and left huge holes in road or destroyed houses? Does no one remember last week when four miners were drowned?

http://www.yaleclimatemediaforum.org/2011/10/in-search-of-a-new-eco-narrative/
“We have become convinced that modern environmentalism, with all of its unexamined assumptions, outdated concepts and exhausted strategies, must die so that something new can live.”
calls for a new kind of environmentalism — one that is pro-technology and pro-economic growth — have grown louder. In 2009, Stewart Brand completed his transformation from counterculture hero to self-described “eco-pragmatist,” laying out a blueprint that advised greens to embrace nuclear power and genetic engineering, for the good of the planet.

Time 12 juillet 2011:
